MELANINE PROTECTIVE ACTIVITY

Melanine acts as ap protective agent in the following physiological processes:

1. Light diffusion: melanine granules are present in the horny and vital layers of the epidermis and thus lessen the effext of sunrays;

2. Sunray energy absorption: melanine absorbs a high quantity of sun rays, transforms it into heat, and protects live skin cells against the negative impact of sunrays;

3. Oxydation activation: the melanine granules in the epidermal cells absorb harmful sunrays before they reach the sensitive cell nuclei. Also, melanine successfully prevents the formation of free radicals and thus prevents skin ageing.
